For those of you who haven't heard, a group of My Chemical Romance fans held a protest against a local newspaper. The reason was the terrible depiction of "Emos" in the newspaper.
Basically, a girl started to dress "like an emo" because that was a style that she enjoyed. Shehad been through a lot of stress due to problems with kids at school etc. and killed herself. It had nothing to do with the way she was dressing.
What happens next? The Mom swears vengeance on the kids at school like any good Mom would do, right?
WRONG!
She blames the fact that her daughter had joined this "suicide cult" known as My Chemical Romance. Does she even know it's a freaking band? I'm guessing not, but the mother and father go off to let a news reporter talk about how this terrible new "cult" is going to kill all of our kids.
He suggests that if our children or grandchildren start to dress "with a manner of suicide", then we send our kids to the local MENTAL SOCIETY!
And the sad thing is, people are listening to this.
This is a documentary about the protest that rang out everywhere from Emo's, to Goths, to just normal people. It is a MUST-SEE if you want to learn more about the Emo and Goth groups, or if you want to know what happened at the event itself.
The movie is split into four parts on YouTube, and will be uploaded onto the creator's website soon.

[link]I'm no Emo or Goth, or WHATEVER, but I do know that the reporter had most of his facts wrong. Sure, some Emo's will kill themselves, and some Goths too. But do these folks even realize how many NORMAL people kill themselves, people who dress in bright colors, and sing in high pitched voices with the only instruments in the band being a flute and a fiddle? Well, this documentary explains the entire event more clearly.
A quote from the actual members of My Chemical Romance:
"My Chemical Romance are and always have been vocally anti-violence and anti-suicide. As a band, we have always made it one of our missions through our actions to provide comfort, support, and solace to our fans. The message and theme of our album "The Black Parade" is hope and courage. Our lyrics are about finding the strength to keep living through pain and hard times. The last song on our album states: 'I am not afraid to keep on living' -a sentiment that embodies the band's position on hardships we all face as human beings. If you or anyone that you know have feelings of depression or suicide, we urge you to find your way and your voice to deal with these feelings positively."
NOTE: My facts were from various sources that I got information from, mostly articles on news sites.
